Matador
The Matador Sailing Team was born in 1999 when it launched the first design under the MATADOR name, designed by the Argentinian Naval Architect Javier Soto Acebal. This boat was designed for the IMS rating formula and also as a fast daysailer, easy to sail with two crew.
It had its winning debut at the most important racing event of South America, the ROLEX CIRCUITO ATLANTICO SUR, winning its class & overall in IMS. This victory was repeated for 5 years in a row. The title was once more won with the 2nd generation MATADOR, an IMS 46´ design by the design office of Botin & Carkeek.
In the 2006 season Mr Roemmers & his team, decided to build a TP52 and compete in the TP52 Class events. The 3rd generation MATADOR is designed by Judel & Vrolijk which designs proved to be the fastest and most competitive in the 2006 season. So the core of the Matador team once more had the challenge of planning the design and construction of a boat that is a potential winner in the best international sailing competition.
The Team scored very good overall results during 2007, winning the COPA DEL REY in Palma de Mallorca, 3rd Place at BREITLING REGATTA and 4th Place at the TP52 WORLDS in Port Cervo.
The 2008 season will have the best competition ever, all of the best AC Teams will have a boat competing and the media focus will be on the MedCup as the most important Sailing Event.
